Marc Ryckmans

Marc Ryckmans is the firm’s founding partner and the head of its insolvency practice.

Marc concentrates his practice in litigation with an emphasis on insolvency and restructuring, and has more than 17 years experience in representing all positions in the capital structure of an insolvent enterprise.  Marc’s insolvency experience has included acting for and against administrators, liquidators, receivers, company directors, debtors and creditors in the context of voluntary administrations, creditors’ voluntary liquidations, court liquidations and receiverships.

In addition, Marc has extensive experience in a range of other disciplines and provides broad transactional support to the firm’s corporate, commercial and property practices.  As a multi-disciplined lawyer, Marc has a diverse client base which includes major accounting firms, commercial and investment banks, trading houses, insurance companies, publicly listed companies, insolvency investors, entrepreneurs and high net-worth individuals.

Marc has been involved in a number of high profile matters. In recent years Marc has worked on many large and complex matters, ranging in diversity from multi-million dollar real estate and leasing transactions to restructuring the gold hedge book of Australia’s largest miner.

Marc received his law degree in 1989 from the University of Sydney and is a member of the Law Society of New South Wales.  He was admitted to practice in Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1990.  Marc is a frequent speaker and writer on subjects related to insolvency.  He also serves on the boards of several private companies.
